Before I begin to dazzle y’all about the marvelous Food Walks of Texas Tour that The Chief and I were so blessed to be a part of last Saturday, let me assure y’all…I have a list of all the questions that you’ve asked and I’m weaving in all of your answers during this post!!!
Y’all, I definitely consider myself a foodie! Biggie Change for the Texas Girl that The Chief married! I surely was not one then!!! He has been so lovingly gracious over our almost 25 Years together…he has eaten everything that I’ve set in front of him. God Bless Him!!! 
But, over the past 15 years or so, the Lord really began to grow a deep love and appreciation in me, for cooking and for cooks! I adore adore adore serving a good meal to both The Chief and MY Girl, and I really love to be around others who feel the same way! I know I come by it naturally…out at the farm, my Ma-Maw would be taking orders for lunch before we could finish eating our breakfast!!!
I never get tripped-up by all the current terms like ‘sourced’ and ‘foraged’ and ‘curated;’ in fact, if the term foodie seems worrisome to you, just insert the image in your mind of a girl who really loves sitting on a warm patio on a cool Texas afternoon, enjoying a non-pretentious, delicious meal with family and friends!!! There is nothing pretentious about a food walk…it is just fab fab fab fun with your family, friends and food!!!
If that sounds like a great time to you, too, then YES, the “Eat There or Be Square!” Food Walk of Texas, located on our beautiful, Historic Downtown McKinney Town Square is just what you should plan for your first, brand-‘Something New’ adventure of 2019!!! 
On our dining tour, both as we sat and ate and as we walked along, we learned so much about my much-beloved City of McKinney, Texas! Our talented, knowledgeable and dynamic team of Tour Guides and Food Walks Owners, ‘Tall’ Paul and Lali Miles, taught us so much about the food, restaurants, and Square Proper. More than that, though, like me, they share a full and abiding-love for our beautiful city!!! They are deeply-invested here! They have poured their hearts and energies into this business and it shows!!!
On each of our six food stops, The Chief and I were delighted with their food offerings!!! In addition, we also visited The Old Collin County Prison, where our tour began, and learned about countless other landmarks on and near our beautiful Town Square! The tour takes place ‘rain or shine’ and panchos will be available for guests, if needed! I strongly suggest comfy walking shoes and sunglasses! 
The Number One Question I’ve received is a variation of: “Are there other tours offered and if so, would y’all go again!?”
YEP! And, in a heartbeat!!! HaHa!!!
The “Let There Be Brunch!” Tour is the Second Tour that ‘Tall’ Paul and Lali currently offer and it sounds JUST as marvelous as our “Eat There or Be Square!” Tour!!! 
Secondly, “How much food are you served?” Y’all! There is so so so much!!! Delightfully-sized portions! And tasty…my goodness! We have sampled the “Best Pizza in McKinney,” a chocolate cream pie that has been featured on the The Food Network, freshly-carved (huge) club sandwiches, hot chocolate craft sodas from an old-fashioned soda tap, to-die-for truffles, and the most-tasty cookie I’ve had in ages…indeed, we were served a fantastic array of selections!!!
You’re a Local Girl…did you learn new stuff about your city while on the tour? Absolutely!!! The Chief truly has encouraged in me, a love of history, and I’m now hooked! But, even if you are only more-casually interested, ‘Tall Paul’ and Lali have such a wealth of knowledge, they brought my city to life during our tour in a brand-‘Something New’ way for us!!! In fact, as we visited in front of The Old Collin County Prison, I discovered that this impressive structure was built of rough-cut fossilized limestone blocks. Completed in 1880, it closed in 1979 and was added to the Historic District in 1983. But, while it was operating as a prison, it housed such prisoners as Frank James, Members of Bonnie and Clyde’s Gang and Charles ‘Tex’ Watson, himself a member of the Charles Manson Group.
It was just such a JOY to spend these three hours with ‘Tall’ Pall and Lali Miles on our “Eat There or Be Square” Tour in Historic Downtown McKinney last weekend! I highly recommend this tour for y’all and your families!!! Be sure to tell ‘Tall’ Paul and Lali ‘HI!!!’ for me when y’all see them!!! Thanks so much, ‘Tall’ Pall and Lali!!!
